YOGA AND PILATES TEACHERS

Kat is a Yoga and Pilates teacher as well as a running coach and uses her unique knowledge of the body in her sports massage work. She offers one to one tuition, private classes, workshops and retreats. Kat first started practising yoga and pilates as part of her daily training as a dancer and physical theatre practitioner 20 years ago. “Like many people I began to appreciate how yoga and pilates helped me physically – protecting my back and keeping my body feeling balanced and the spiritual sense of well being.”
“Now as a busy working mum I appreciate what these practises give me even more and I love to share this knowledge with others.

I have been practising yoga for 20 years. I came to yoga after suffering a serious injury in 1993 and was not able to exercise. I used yoga to rebuild strength and flexibilty in my body and to manage chronic pain, and now use it to help with the stresses and strains of daily life.
I follow the teachings of Krishnamacharya and his son TKV Desikachar who’s teachings I receive through my wonderful teachers Ranju Roy and Dave Charlton of Sadhanamala yoga training. I also have my own personal teacher Mike Young who guides me through life with my daily practise. Yoga has become a way of life, and with this tradition you never stop learning.

I have been practising yoga for more than 20 years on and off, following the meanderings of my life and following in the steps of my yogi dad.
Since 2010 I have been driven to understand the secrets of yoga more closely and I started a regular, dedicated practice.
Before and during my teacher training with the British Wheel of Yoga, I have gained much experience from attending many Yoga and Meditation Workshops, Weekend Retreats and intensive yoga courses with renowned Yoga Teachers from different traditions.
I hold a BWY Yoga Teacher Diploma level4 (QCF) 500 hrs.
I’m fully insured.

Jo is a Level 4 Mindfulness Accredited and Yoga Alliance Accredited teacher who specialises in the form of Nidra Yoga. Yoga nidra or yogic sleep is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, like the “going-to-sleep” stage, typically induced by a guided meditation. There is evidence that yoga nidra helps relieve stress and aids with reaching relaxation on a cellular level. Jo has worked with teenagers under the NHS as a Yoga for Mental Health therapist and she is passionate about helping individuals with complex needs and disablilties, offering 1:1 classes as well as group settings.
